Just another day..but a good one.

Today started like most,but it had quite a few different kind of elements.First got up around 7 am,to go for for our daily walk.Had breakfast together,and then we both went about our day.Henry left for his day job,mowing grass today for Gary ,who by the way is a wonderful guy Henry works for from time to time,mostly picking up farm equipment though..And I left to drive to my aqua size class..which I might add I thorughly enjoy.So When I got home I started on my sewing project,which today is making jean blankets.
So coming close to lunch Henry calls wether I can bring him some lunch.So I made some sandwiches,cherry tomatoes(which the neighbour brought over the other day)and a sliced cucumber,and a dring,along with some cold water.
Oh that brings back memories when he drove the gas truck some 35 yrs. ago .We enjoyed eating outside together,and what a beautiful day it is here today...plus 29C.
So after I got home I comence with my sewing .So after an hour or so and he calls again wether I could bring his other glasses,ok I ask why.He said he had been cutting the grass and other stuff I suppose,when all of a sudden he feels his glasses missing from his head.As a branch or something got in the way of his head .But thatnkfuly nothing else happened to him.So I bring 2 other pairs(from previous presciptions) to him.And I comence to my sewing again.So by now I have somewhat lost my motivation to sew,so I decide to write this blog.Oh and I didn't mention,that I was watching the story of Amazing Grace ,while I was sewing.A truly wonderful story ,based on actual events.
It was a historical drama telling the story of an 18th.-century English politition who fought for the abolition of slavery.
Well that has really nothing to do with my day,but just to say that I am so Blessed in so many ways .First of all that I live in a free country, freedom to worship my Lord,have wonderful friends,have a nice home and have 3 great kids,and also 3 amazing grandkids and of course that I am married to the most amazing man on this planet...what else could I want. as he does put up with me and trys to do whatever my heart desires..ALMOST ....LOL.Yes I am Blessed!!!!
So anyhow,I hope whoever reads this(and hasne't been board out of his or her skin) will also have had a wonderful peaceful day!!

Marlene and Robert Reimer 's 50 th Anniversary

In June,our family got together for Marlene and Robert's 50 anniversary.They live on Lake Erie .They moved to their "cottage" a few years ago,after building it up to a beautiful home,were they make their permanent home.We had a beautiful time together all 7 of us and our spouses.We arrvived on Thursday and stayed for a week.The weather was just perfect ,we spent a lot of time outside,as they live on the lake .We went and had a fun game of minni golf...so fun!!!On Friday evening they hosted a wonderful supper.We also presented Carol a gift,as we do that as a family on their 60th. birthday.On Saturday we all went to Port Dover for a beautiful supper.On Sunday morning we attended the Sweets Church,which they attend..a wonderful service and the pastor said a beautiful prayer for Marlene and Robert .They then hosted another meal,with thier children...what a good time was had by all.It was so good to see our niece and nephews and their families!!
Our family ; Alvin and Eva Doerksen,Cranbrook B.C.;Paul and Joyce Doerksen ,Saskatoon,SK.;Carol And Lloyd Lewis,Lacombe Alberta; Milton Doerksen , Celina,and Joey; Cynthia and Michel Amyot,Montreal Quebec.It was such a wonderful time we all had visiting and reminiscing.We don't see each other too often so it's always nice for us all to be together,as we all live so far apart ,this time was so special for us all!!!I thank God for all my siblings.I think we have an awesome family..thank-you Lord!!!!!!

Summer vacation..continued

As stated we were in Kananaskis with Braxton for 3 nights.It's a beautiful park .We had very good weather,went for walks,rode our bikes,and played alot of games and of course had campfires..On Thursday we went to Airdrie as Braxton was flying home on Friday.So we checked out the Airdrie campground,and it was NOT to our liking,as it was very wet and mucky.So Henry decided ..Walmart here we come.So Carol and Lloyd and Milt and Celina joined us there.And also joined us for supper,so good to see them again.
The next day we sent Braxton off,by plane,and we headed west to Cranbroke B.C.to visit with Alvin and Eva.It was a beautiful weekend for sure.Henry worked in the shop with Alvin,as he makes carpenters pouches ..and is very good at it,I might add.Such a talented brother I have.
On Sunday we headed south to the USA.At the border they decided to confiscate our wood(because it had bark) our peppers and our green onions..so fussy those Americans!!!!LOL
The next 5 days we drove through Montana and North Dakota.we came across a very unique fruit stand.The owner said we should try the fruit first,and so we did.We bought some peaches,donut peaches (a new brand),and nectarines...such beautiful fruit..WOW,and so tasty.He says he picks it fresh and ripe every day,that's why it's so good.Oh and we also picked up a watermelon.Plus he added a cantaloupe at no charge..what a generous man!!It sure was a beautiful short holiday,and everything worked and went well.God indeed has made such beauty ,and it's our pleasure to enjoy it,we are so BLESSED!!!

We are so privileged to be-able to do a motor home trip again this summer with our 14 yr.old grandson Braxton.Our first day we got up very early and had a good start.We stopped in Regina and met his parents and sister,to have lunch at Mc.D's.And also to pick up his bike.We camped at Medicine Hat the first night.Tomorrow off to Kananaskis ,Alberta, Mt. Kidd RV Park.We made an awesome fire tonight....always a highlight when camping,and had a wiener roast...sooooo much fun!!We are indeed Blessed!!

It has been awhile since I posted,but here goes.We had a nice time at Christmas and I will add some recent pic's of this last winter.
Henry is still somewhat busy with his driving,but of course not busy enough!We did NOT go on a winter holiday this winter,As I had a heart issue that I had to take care of.I have Atrial Filtration,so it goes racing every once in a while.So I am in the process of getting it fixed.I qualify to have a procedure done,called Atrial Ablation,and that way it should clear that up.I may have to go to London Ontario for that ,so I hope and pray I can have that done...like ASAP!!!!!!!

Our trip west

We had a very beautiful time in our RV, camping with our 12 yr. old grandson ,Braxton. We headed toward his home,Regina,and had a brief 3 day stop at his new place,as his parents had moved while he was away!!(he had been gone for a couple of weeks )SO we then proceeded to Kananaskis,Alberta,Mt. Kidd RV Park ,stayed 4 days and 3 nights.It is an incredible RV park.Unfortunately it wasn't the greatest weather,as it rained and was quite cold,and we had to use the furnace EVERY NIGHT!!!We couldn't utilize the bike paths as we would of liked as there was a RESIDENT mother bear and her young cub thinking she would like to stay and keep the campers "company".the golf course had held up the golfers and decided to have a nap on one of the greens...LOL.But it was a wonderful experience anyway (the trip)!!We then headed to Lacombe and visited with my sister Carol and family.What a great time we had. Braxton really enjoyed it there ,as he got to play with a lot of his cousins,a real treat,and of course hanging out with uncle Lloyd!!!!He's the best for sure.We then continued back to Regina,were I stayed and helped Robin for the rest of the week,including putting up a trampoline..WOW was that hard!!Then came home(Steinbach) with her .Robin and Sarah got to see her extended family,Laurie(her sister) and Mike and Matt her brother.We celebrated Sara's 3 rd. birthday .They grow up WAYYY to fast don't they???And since we've been back Henry has been VERY busy driving for dealers,all the way from SK. to parts of the US.So anyway he seems to love his driving and I love to see him do what he loves to do ,so that's all the matters right??And he's retired,ya right!! LOL

Laurie turns the BIG 40,on April 30,2009!!!!

Laurie celebrated her 40 th. birthday on April 30th.(I know I'm a tad behind).She is an amazing young lady.She has had a lot of struggles in her life ,but is always able to overcome them with ease.AT least she makes it look that way!!Laurie and Mike have a wonderful cleaning business,and clean at 3 different places,and we are so proud of them .She has accomplished playing the piano and also learned computer skills,all an her own!!WOW!!So we all are learning from her,even my mom when she learned to use the computer,at age 80, Laurie was very helpful,thanks Laurie for all you have done for us,in so many ways!!!Laurie always is helpful to me whenever I am cloths shopping ,she just somehow knows what suits me,and I really appreciate that so much!!
Mike had a very nice birthday party for her and a lot of her friends came out for that,and even Matt came,and that meant a lot to her!!Laurie, Dad and I wish you God's Blessings and may you have may more wonderful years ahead!!!The pictures are Laurie,age 1,Matt,1 and Laurie 3,their wedding day,Feb.16,1994,Laurie and Mike with her dog "Bandit"and on her birthday.

A wonderful weekend in Regina

This last weekend we had a very good time with Robin and Aaron and Braxton and Sarah.Henry delvered a truck there and I drove chase car.Braxton had a soccer turnament happening and also his conformation at thier church.On saturday we took the kids and one of Braxton's friends to the fair days there.It was alot of fun to see them have such a reat time.We also took Sarah for a long walk at the Parliment buildings there,as we walked around the lake(well not ALL the way around).On Friday night we had a wonderful supper at church and we heard the testomonies of the people being confirmed.Braxton has trully showed a great walk in the right direction,for the Lord,and we are so proud of him.On saturday he played 2 games,and we also looked at a house.The kids made an offer and it was accepted...WOW were they all excited!!And we were too.Now Braxton has so much closer to his school and they are alot closer to church as well.Sunday we went to church and for supper they treated us to a wonderful supper .We left monday and all in all it was a terrific time!!!Always good to connect with the kids and grandkids!!

My husband has a wonderful partime job,as we are both retired.He said "he put in 25 years in Real Estate,so he can NOW do what he LOVES to do,and that is driving".He delivers and picks up cars and trucks or delivers them,were ever they want them delivered .Today we delivered a baler into the US,a little ways,a few hours away.So I went along for a ride.And it was fun,as I got to buy my favorite BODY AND BATH products in Grand Forks,N.D.We don't have that store close to us ,so I take advantage of it when I can.But it rained all day,and was atad dreay,but we had a wonderful time anyhow .But it STILL is not warming up too much at this part of Canada.We are getting pretty TIRED of this all.But we know summer will come,we just don't know....WHEN!!!!!!!So anyhow I am still thankful for this day ,as it is the Day that the Lord did make and we did rejoice in it!!!

Today is my youngest daughter's birthday.She was born on this day but didn't arrive in our home till 11 days later , as she is adopted.She was(and still is) so beautiful with the most beautiful brown eyes.And as brown eyes were somewhat rare ,that was so special to us all and especially my dad.She had alot of loves,mostly animals,and birds.She had a few horses in her time,and quite a few budgies ,and a parrot .She is now a very successful business women,as she runs a fitness business called CROSSFIT REGINA.She is married to a wonderful man Aaron,who is a firefighter,and has 2 wonderful children.Braxton 12(yesterday June 3rd.) and Sarah,2 1/2 yrs.The picture is Laurie 8, Matt 5,and Robin,6 months.

Today is my grandson's 12th. Birthday.He is a fine young man and is such a delight to his grampa and me!!And a wonderful older brother for Sarah.And also is quite an accomplished soccer player.
Today I had a busy day.I drove a sample for the lab(Bethesda) to Health Sciences,and went for a quick bit to eat.Laurie joined me and so we stopped in at Giant Tiger and came home at about 2 pm.I then proceeded to Bethesda Place were our church was in charge of the "sing Song" and also serving the residents "Schenti" and fresh rhubarb jam...yummy!I had a very busy day today, so I decides to have a bit of a nap,and did I sleep.So we'll see what tomorrow will bring!!

Last night we had a wonderful time,as we had invited 2 couples for supper.We met them when we went on our bus tour last year in April.They are Mary and Tony Jarowec and Howard and Edna Jonstone from Winnipeg.I had maed a wonderful(at least they said it was) beef roast with mushroom sauce,and a strawberry frozen dessert.I got those recipe's from a Blog I have called "Mennonite Girls Can Cook"...really neat Blog.
Had a great time remembering some of our fond times of Europe...WHAT A GREAT TIME WE Had!!!!

European Vacation:
A group of area residents recently returned from a wonderful vacation to Europe. It was a Trafalgar Tour called “European Explorer” that began with a few days in London, England which included a panoramic tour of the city by motor coach, with stops at Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul’s Cathedral, where Prince Charles & Dianna were married. The highlight of the afternoon was a visit to Windsor Castle, the residence of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. They did not get to join the Queen for tea, but they knew that she was there, since her flag was flying that day. The three-hour tour of the state apartments and surrounding areas of the castle with its ornate décor, furnishings and artwork was extremely interesting . Some of the other highlights enjoyed by some of the group were: walking to Kensington Palace, the former home of Charles & Diana, a cruise on the Thames River, shopping at Harrod’s department store, etc.
From London, the group continued on to Dover, where they crossed the English Channel by ferry and had their first view of the “White Cliffs of Dover”. The rest of the tour had many and varied highlights, the first of which was a visit to Paris, France, where they toured the city, went on a cruise on the River Seine and were able to see many of the old historic buildings along the river, the Statue of Liberty, ornate bridges, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower beautifully lit up at night. The next day they went up to the second level of the Eiffel Tower to view the city and toured the amazing art museum, The Louvre.
Everyone was impressed with the beauty of Lucerne, Switzerland and the surrounding Alps. Following a scenic ride by cogwheel railway up the steep slope of snow-covered Mount Rigi they enjoyed an outdoor lunch on the deck of the restaurant and a spectacular view of central Switzerland and the beautiful Alps.
Then it was on to Italy, with overnight stops in Milan, Rome, Florence and Venice. They toured certain areas of each of the cities by bus and had guided tours of many points of interest. Some of the highlights were: La Scala Opera House and the Cathedral of Milan; the Colloseum, Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Square and Cathedral, the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel with its famous ceiling painted by Michelangelo; the Holy Cross Cathedral of Florence, where Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini and Machiavelli are buried, with monuments to each of them; a boat cruise down the main street of Venice and the Grand Canal, which used to be the most famous street of Europe, a visit to a glass-blowing factory, the Doges (Dukes’) Palace in San Marcos Square and the most enjoyable gondola ride down the narrow canals, serenaded by an Italian singer accompanied by an accordian player. It was almost too exciting to believe!
In Innsbruck, Austria, their tour guide had arranged a tour of some of the old, traditional mountain villages of Tyrol by horse-drawn wagons. The scenery was beautiful and everyone enjoyed the ride.
From there, it was on to Germany, where they were treated to a cruise on the Rhine River past the rock where the famous Lorelei supposedly sat, a visit to the Heidelberg Castle and Cologne Cathedral (Koelner Dom) where the three Wise Men are supposedly buried. Overnights were in Munich and Mannheim.
The last featured stop was in Amsterdam, Holland, where they took a cruise down the canals, visited a diamond cutting and polishing factory and had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant next to the sea in an old town called Volendam, a name familiar to many of them. This area was significant to many of them, since this was the country where the Mennonites originated.
The next day the group headed through Belgium to Calais, France, where they crossed the channel back to London. In all, there were 45 people on the tour, led by an excellent tour guide who was fluent in nine languages and went above and beyond the call of duty to make the trip a fantastic one for everyone with memories to last a lifetime. By the end of the tour everyone was tired, but elated to have been part of this exciting experience.

Got a cold

Henry and I are taking turns at this cold thing.His is almost over and I have JUST begun!!!!And it's not fun as I am just over one a month ago,after being sick with it all Christmas season.But I have to be patient now ,right?
Henry is still doing a fare bit of driving.He recently came back from Toronto and went to Calgary a few days later. But he mostly drives to Winnipeg and surrounding area .I also drive sometimes , He really enjoys it and that's important to him and me!
We have started to attend a biweekly Bible Study on Romans,lead by our former pastor Arden Thiessen(also he wrote the study,"GOOD NEWS FOR A BROKEN WORLD").
We are so thankful for him as our leader as he can really explain the Bible so well!!
We are truly BLESSED!!

Feb. 29th.2008

WOW today is Feb. 29th.And 1 month till we leave for our trip to EUROPE !16 day Bus tour!

Today Henry and I both took a trip (Henry 2 trips delivering cars) to Winnipeg. I took an elderly person for an appointment to Winnipeg . As we did wake up this morning with some pretty "not so pleasent weather" .And the highways were pretty slippery ,and so it wasn't sure I would go.But I first volenteered at the MCC Thrift Store,and then left for Winnipeg.And we did see quite a few cars in the ditch as well as a semi.But we were able to go there and back safely,Thank God!!!

So tonight I went to a Rest Haven Dessert evening Fund Raiser at our church ,Stbh. EMC. It was indeed a entertaining evening, with some skits and Celtic music .Very nice !And the desserts were indeed WONDERFUL!!!!!

Today is a month till we leave for Europe....WOW I am sooooooooooooo excited ,it's so totaly unbelievable that I am actually going there,my life long dream to see the Swiss Alps and see the tulips in Bloom in Holland .

Well it has been awhile since I wrote.
We are enjoying our winter ,in spite it being soooooooooooooo cold.Wow and COLD it has been lately!!But we are warm and fed, so what else could we ask for , right? Well a warm spot somewhere south WOULD of been nice!!! But not this winter as we are anticipating a trip to Europe on March 29th. for 16 days . And we ARE EXCITED!!!!!!!!!We made a trip to Regina ,helping out with the children while Robin was very busy with Crossfit.It was fun to help and connect with the children .And how they are growing up ,and might I say SMART????
The flowers I received from my sweety for valentines day ,they were beautiful!!!!Plus we went to TONI ROMA'S for a wonderful supper with Abe and Mary Hiebert ,our friends .
Henry has been quite busy driving for others including a trip to Toronto. And this morning delivering a truck to Calgary. On the way he'll make a stop in Regina for a few hours , to visit Robin and family .He will fly back Monday evening .
Otherwise we are doing pretty well and are so thankful for that God is Good!!!!!

Robin just reminded me ,to blog our Christmas,so here goes.

We had Christmas this year on my birthday the 23 rd.of Dec. It was very nice and our kids got us a gift certivicate for a new dig. camera.And NOW I have to learn how to us it...LOL.And Robin got us a situp thing ,so now we have to find the time to do situps.Sarah is showing off her table and chairs,what a clown,and TOO SWEET for sure!!!!!!

On the 24 th I went to the EFREE church candle light service ,it was so beautiful ,and MaryJane Hiebert sang ,OH HOLY NIGHT so beautifully...WOW ,I'm so thankful that I can hear and that my parents gave me that heritage of being able to appreciate GOOD MUSIC!!!!

Also my friends Susan F.,Marg B. and Ann D. took me out for my birthday breakfast to Village greens,very nice!!!

Henry's partime Job

Henry's been enjoying his new partime job,delivering cars for the numerous dealers , here in town .He makes sometimes 3 or 4 trips a day ,and he loves it. This week Monday morning he flew to Toronto and picked up a5 ton truck for Trucks Unlimited .He was gone 2 nights and 3 days.We were all thankful he made it home safe . But he was quite tired as well,even though he enjoyed it most of the time.
I got a chance to catch up on things around here . I baked Christmas cake, Brown Bread , and Date filled oatmeal cookies , yummmmmmmy .Now I'm set for all of you at Christmas,oh ya, I also did some Christmas decorating. Haven't put up the tree ,but will get a new one this weekend.

Surprise Retirement Party

We had a great surprise retirement party for Henry at Maxim's in Wpg. It was quite exhausting on my part to try to keep my cool for a week or so, so he wouldn't suspect anything. But Paul and Barb Friesen were very instrumental in helping me do that.

We arrived at the restaurant at about 5:45 pm and then everyone yelled surprise and Braxton ran up to hug him. And Henry said how did you get here, and where is your mom?? LOL .

We all had an amazing time. Robin did a wonderful job in relating Henry's work history: first of all hoeing beets,working at Loewen's (5 yrs), working at Ert Peter's Texaco (11 yrs) driving fuel truck, farming (2 yrs), and selling Real Estate (25 yrs). Also she mentioned some of Henry's sayings ect.

and of course Henry and myself, Joyce.Our guests were: Mom, Gertrude Doerksen, Dora and Walter Sobering (sister), Linda and Frank Broesky (sister), Pete and Helen Friesen (aunt and uncle), Tom and Martha Friesen (uncle and aunt), Paul and Barb Friesen (co-worker at Remax), Abe and Mary Hiebert (friends for MANY years), and Ert and Shirley Peters, Matt (our son fr. Winnipeg), Robin and Braxton (fr. Regina - daughter and grandson; Sarah was with her Maier grandparents for the evening)

We were glad our family was thinking of us:

Alvin and Eva Doerksen (Joyce's brother) from Cranbrock B.C. wrote,"Congrats on your retirement from Real Estate.We know you are looking forward to new adventures. We know your life has had many adventures and challenges and you have met them with courage, honesty and determination. You are a good husband to my sister, devoted father and a doting grandfather. Enjoy your retirement Henry."

Norma Doerksen (Henry's sister) wrote as she couldn't be present: "Hi Henry, I want to congratulate you on your retirement. I hope you have many more years of good health, happiness, and traveling with your motorhome. Sorry I wasn't able to make it to your party."

Henry you have had an unbelievable stick-to-it-ness, that was and keeps on being amazing!!!!

I love you and totally admire you for who you are, and how you were able to overcome trials and difficulties on a daily basis, sometimes!!!!!

We are both SOOOOO thankful how the Lord has sustained us in all this time and how He helped us in many a troubled time, WE ARE TRULY THANKFUL!!!

Now we have another chapter in our lives to live, but we know with the Lord's help and Guidance, we will be able to travel this path as well!!!!!

Day 1

This is Henry's first day of retirement!! And it was a good one! We got up early and exercised, and went for breakfast (shared a breakfast of course). Came home and made soup, Henry helping me all the way, what a guy! Went to Mom's for lunch (we were so busy with our soup we almost forgot!!) and had "machroch sloup". Then we went to see Don Friesen as he's in Bethesda Place now. And went to Canadian Tire to get a part for mom's humidifier. And then it was again time to eat, supper that is. Now we both cleaned up from supper and Henry put soup into jars, and now waiting for Pete and Helen to come over for coffee. Now how does that sound, pretty boring, right? But we love it that way!!!!!! Well it's OK for us as we are getting pretty old and so that's what one gets, right ???

Henry's Retirement Day

Today was Henry's retirement day. WOW, NOW WHAT!! Well he probably will be fairly busy, I'm sure. He has put the word out to dealers that he is available for deliveries (cars, trucks or whatever). They served pizza for lunch at Remax today, as Bill was also retiring today. Quite an interesting day there! He has very much enjoyed his Real Estate Career but it was just time now. Moving Matt

Yesterday we moved Matt to his new place. That went pretty good (for us oldies) as Matt had rented a moving truck. So he is very happy in his new place, and we are very happy for him!!! All the best Matt.

Trip to Montreal

On Oct. 17th. we flew to Montreal to spend 6 days (came home on Oct. 23 rd) with Cindy and Family. Carol and Lloyd Lewis (sister) from Lacombe, Alberta, joined us there. We rented a van together so we could do some pretty amazing tours. And that we did as Cindy and Michel were our very capable tour guides.
The next morning we all went out for breakfast as it was Cindy's 42nd birthday. We also went to Ottawa, On. , about 1 1/2 hours from their place, and toured Parliament Hill. In Ottawa we also toured the grounds of the Rideau Hall, the home of our Governor General. That was very beautiful as well! I must say. With all the trees looking so beautiful it was an amazing site! We also toured old Montreal and drove up to MT. Royal. And went to the underground city, as some call it, with the subway, and did some shopping. Quite the city I must say!!! We also drove to the Sherbrook area, where they once lived, went to school and worked. And at this time of year the foliage was MAGNIFICENT!!!! I must say!! All in all we had a very enjoyable time.

Yesterday,Matt came over as he had to sign papers for his house.So I made beef stew and biscuits and homemade apple pie.Yes I know not a very dietary meal.But Matt loved it! We then brought him home (Winnipeg) and stopped at Kildonon Mall and got Henry some NEW runners.Now we're set for ALL the exercise we are attempting to be involved in(or am in)..LOL.
We are getting ready to go to Montreal on Wed. to visit Cynthia and Michele,and family,for 6 days.Carol and Lloyd are also joining us there.We plan to do some sightseeing as we have real good guides!!!!More news about that when I can access the PC.

Home again

Had a wonderful week at Robin and Aaron's. Henry went home on Monday and I stayed till today(Friday early morning).I took west jet as that is ALOTTTTTTTTT faster then BUS!!!!!!LOL . I helped with babysitting and drive Braxton were he needed to go.To school and on Wednesday to swimming lessons. I also benefited being there by having some one on one FREE coaching for starting my crossfit,WOW that is tough,but so good for me!!!!We are trying to get more fit now as we are not getting any younger,for sure!!!If My mom lived yet, she would be so proud of us,and of Robin to start this crossfit business.Today I got some weights and I'm also getting a recumbent exercise bike with a rowing attachment.So we'll see how that will be!!
Tonight we're going to take Laurie and Mike and Matt. and Mom(Gertrude) to Maxims ,(for our thanksgiving as we were not home last weekend ),which is our all time fav. place to eat.But we will share,so not to worry ,not too many calories!!!!!

Thanksgiving Sunday

This morning we went to church,Celebration Lutheran here in Regina. It was a very nice service and we heard that we are to be thankful for what we have, and we do have alot to be thankful for sure!!!!!! After lunch we went to the science center and Robin and Braxton went rock wall climbing. That was very interesting. And after that we went and bought stuff for the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Child shoe box. We then went home and had chicken pot pie and Ceaser salad for supper, it was very good!!!

Thanksgiving weekend

This weekend we are at Robin and Aaron's in Regina. We got here fri. at around 1 pm or so (and yes we left home very early). We had our first introduction on Friday night to crossfit. And yes we could feel it. Sat. we drove to the science center and looked at the wall climbing place. Robin actually thought her PARENTS were going to do that, SILLY GIRL!!!!!!! Well we'll watch Sarah tomorrow when Robin and Braxton climb the 6 stories high.... NUTS or WHAT!!!! After that we went back to her house and had a REAL workout....and are we going to be sore!!!! I was sure these workout were made for 16 YR. OLDS!!! Crazy people. But I know we are going to be happy in 30 yrs. down the road when WE are going to be able to get off the toilet UNASSISTED!!!!!! There you go!!! And yes it is very good and we are going to get so strong YOU WON'T KNOW WHAT HIT US!!!!!!

Today we had our Thanksgiving Supper at church. Henry and I helped with the supper. After that we went to the Museum here in Steinbach and enjoyed a beautiful evening of music. Tonight it was led by Rudy Schellenberg and his wife Henrietta at the piano. It is so refreshing to hear such good music and so well done!!!! I have my cousin's daughter Jen Wiebe singing in there, so that's why it makes it special for me as well. It consists of singing, readings and congregational sing as well. They have these evenings once a month during the winter months, so we try to go whenever we can. Otherwise, I went to Winnipeg and did some shopping and yesterday I bought an exercise bike, so now there's no more excuses for not getting in shape!!!!

Today was the first day of fall so we took a drive and here are a few pictures.

The first one is in our town in the Stonebridge area. I loved the way the light was coming through. The second one is at a new park they made at our Jake Epp Library. It is dedicated to the C.T. Loewen family and that plaque is a big saw blade in a big log, depicting the Lowen Family business. The third picture is a tree close to our church, very interesting looking and beautiful. This is indeed a beautiful time of year, isn't it? We are so fortunate to be able to enjoy this scenery and weather, as it was a very warm day, unbelievable!

We had a very nice weekend. Sat. evening we went to Tom F.'s place and helped him celebrate his 68th. He's doing so good yet and enjoying retirement!! All weekend we had beautiful weather, and so we did a lot of walking.Sunday we went to Grunthal to visit Don F. And for supper we celebrated Dora's birthday at Lee's res. very nice. We walked there and back so we put in a few miles Sunday! I'm having a lot less pain in my hip and also sleeping better. Wow PTL!!!!!

A Very Sad Day

This was indeed a very sad morning. Our neighbours David and Tara Klassen gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Levi David on Sept.7 th. And he went to be with Jesus on Sept.9th. He was born with a hole in his diaphragm. I don't know the name for it.
It was a beautiful service filled with wonderful music and words of comfort. We just don't know why God takes a little child to Him, but someday we'll know I'm sure!
On the obituary card it said, "...You'll just have Heaven before we do..."

Matthew's bought a house

Yes, Matt bought a house yesterday, and he is SOOOOOO excited!!!! The house is on 686 Martin E., East Kildonan, wpg.
He could hardly believe it and is so thankful for the help that Henry could be to him. As he is STILL an agent, it was important that he buy a house ASAP. So now he has possession Oct. 29 or sooner (he hopes).
Robin and Aaron are going home today and so is Braxton, as he was staying with us . We've had a great time!!!

Sarah's Birthday Weekend

Friday Braxton and Sarah came out, and their parents as well. Braxton stayed with us and he had alot of fun playing games with gramps, as usual. He LOVES those games. Sat. morning we had waffles and white sauce (which I had promised him, and he doesn't forget ANYTHING). So we again went to the city to see 2 more houses and Matt thinks he knows which one he'd like best and is closer to his work. So it has been fun doing this for him but kinda nerve racking for him as well. Sat. night we grandparented both Sarah and Braxton and had a ball!!!! That little girl is sooooooo sweet and so smart for sure!!! She's already doing crossfit, can you imagine what shape she'll be in shortly? Sunday we had lunch with Matt, grandma Gert.(Henry's mom) and of course the guests of honour, the Maier family. We had the gift opening time after Sarah had a nap and off they went to the other grandparents, the Maier's. Henry and Matt proceeded to Wpg. to present the offer and see if his offer will be accepted. I'll keep you informed!!!!!

Good Week ,so far

We've had a good week so far. Wednesday I made soup and baked cupcakes for Sarah's birthday this weekend. Yesterday I made pickled beets. We love to eat them with fried potatoes, yummmmm. Today I helped at the thrift store a bit this morning and went out for coffee with a friend. Late afternoon I went to the farmer's market for a few things, what a beautiful time of year to see all of God's wonderful abundance!!! We then proceeded to Winnipeg to show 5 more houses to Matt and I think he found the right one in the area he wants to be in. Then went for a bite to eat. And off to TOYS R US and bought Sarah's 1st. birthday present, a Fisher Price Little People Cinderella Castle.

Today we went to Winnipeg and saw 5 houses with Matt.But we couldn't find the right one yet.And the selection is pretty meager ,at least in the area he wants to be.So we'll keep on trying and he hopes to buy one before winter,as his present house is not too good.

SUNDAY A DAY OF REST

Had a wonderful day today. Went to church in the morning (hadn't been for 3 weeks due to holidays) And had a" madach schlope" afternoon nap!! Yes we are old enough for that!LOL. And then packed a nutritious lunch and off for a drive to Falcon Lake. Drove around to Abe and Mary Hiebert's cottage and the campground, and then the phone rings and Abe wanted us to come over for coffee. So we had our lunch on a bench overlooking the lake, AND WAS THAT BEAUTIFUL out there today!!! We also saw a motor home which we would like to get in the future, and no not a big one, but a Realto, perfect size for" disa olash"( us oldies!!!). We then had coffee with Abe and Mary and had a great time, as we also went for a nice walk. Now to most of you this might be A TAD boring, but to us in was truly an enjoyable day FOR SURE, and very relaxing.

Apple Pie Making Day

Well today I made 11 apple pie and FROZE them as to not be TEMPTED!!! Yes that is a temptation for me like ALL sweets are, and especially pies and Cinnamon rolls!!! Yummy!!!

I really enjoy this computer thing (and no, I guess you didn't know that....no????...LOL) But today Laurie came down to work at it for me, so I hope it's all working good now so ttyl,OK?

Back to work at home for Henry and I'm catching up at home. Talked with my niece in Red Deere as she is also on SKYPE, it's a no charge calling and messaging on the PC. VERY COOL. So if you would like to call at no charge (only for those who are also on Skype and a computer) just download it. So anyhow happy to be back home . But 1 more thing,we were just home maybe 1/2 hour and we had quite the storm here, high winds, rain (VERY HARD) and hail. WOW that was almost scary, and thankful we got home safe FOR SURE!!!!

But one beautiful sunset which followed that storm!!

Back from Holidays today

Today we got back from our 2 week holiday west. We went on our motorhome, and had a BLAST!!!!! Spent a week with Braxton, as we spent 3 nights in Kananaskis, Mt . Kidd Campground, a wonderful place!!! A very nice place for kids as it has a marvelous kids program. Henry and Brax sited the shuttle for a few minutes way up in the sky, VERY AWESOME!!!!!!! Had breakfast with Milt in Calgary, good to see him, as he is one busy guy. We then went all the way to Cranbrook and visited Alvin and Eva in their lovely home. Also saw Lynal and Tanya and girls, Hanna and Mia, very sweet kids!! And sooooooooo smart!!!! Lynal made a wonderful leg of lamb on the spits ,WOW!!!! That was good!!!! We spent a night in Fairmont hotsprings (at 15 amp. site, NO AIR CONDIONTING) then Radium, then off to Lacombe Alberta to see Carol and Lloyd Lewis and family, 3 children and 10 grandchildren. A great family.
Then to Paul and Joyce's and connect with Andrea and Elvis and baby Joshau .What a cutie, and so much an apple of Paul's eye!!!
Off to Manitu Beach, SK. the Hotsprings (I know it's 3 times this trip). The last night was in Regina and visited Robin and Aaron and of course Baby Sarah, who is growing up wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to fast. But what a little princess she is !!!!
We arrived home to a wonderful green lawn and then a good shower, with some hail.But a beautiful sunset as well!!
